Job opening for a Crystal Grower - Silicon & Germanium (m/f/d)

IKZ is seeking to hire a crystal grower with experience in Czochralski (Cz) growth for silicon / germanium (SiGe) semiconductor crystals. Cz growth of bulk crystals is a unique expertise of our institute and is one of the main stream research activities of the semiconductor section. The Si & Ge high quality crystals with tailored properties and/or with ultra-high-purity find wider applications in energy-efficient electronics, photonics, quantum computing, or radiation detectors for fundamental research. With our state-of-the art lab facilities and variety of pre-industrial scale Cz-pullers, Si & Ge crystals of up to 6-inch diameter can be grown. As one of the key personnel for the Cz-growth related activities, you will contribute to the process developments and as well to the application-oriented research, besides routinely growing crystals.

Your activity:

Your area of responsibility and tasks will span over all the aspects of the growth process and technical developments, which includes, but not limited to:

  • Czochralski growth of larger size silicon and germanium single crystals
  • Growth process development, optimisation and documentation
  • Jointly working with construction engineers for new equipment development
  • Training the students, co-operating with technicians
  • Involvement in scientific research works and projects

Your profile:

  • Proven practical experience in Cz growth or melt growth of semiconductor crystals
  • Technical degree (Bachelor / Master) or diploma – in process engineering / materials science / physics / chemistry or other related discipline
  • Knowledge of measurement techniques, analysis and evaluation of process data
  • Structured and goal-oriented work attitude, team player and hands-on mentality
  • German & English language skills at a basic level are needed
  • Experience in advanced process control is advantageous
